“Jazz on the Bayou”

The 18th annual Jazz on the Bayou fundraiser – benefiting STARC,  Easter Seals Louisiana, The Kidney Foundation and the ARTS in St. Tammany Parish – Jazz will be held Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th, 2010, from 3-7 PM at Chateau Kole on Bayou Liberty near Slidell. Hosts for the event are Ronnie and Gardner Kole, Chairs, and co-chairs Jack and Brenda Stroupe.

Jazz on the Bayou includes dancing on the tent-enclosed veranda at the Kole’s home on Beautiful Bayou Liberty. “Jazz” is very unique as it is not held in a hotel or convention center, but at the Kole’s house on  Bayou Liberty, outside of Slidell…Tents galore, music, auction items, wines, etc, plus assigned seating at tables with white tablecloths…Each night after the event formally closes, many stay around for a “private” concert by Ronnie Kole on his 1940 Steinway Concert Grand Piano in his living room…Now you know a little bit about the personal side of Jazz on the Bayou, and Gardner and Ronnie Kole’s love affair for what they’ve been doing for 18 years…  

Since its creation by the Kole’s in 1993, Jazz on the Bayou has raised over $1,000,000 to support Easter Seals and STARC programs in New Orleans and the Northshore. Ochsner is the presenting sponsor of this year’s Jazz, and our Corporate Sponsors’ are AT&T, Charter Communications, Site Rental and Supply, Slidell Memorial Hospital, CLECO, Northshore Regional Medical Center, St Joe Brick Works, Summerfield Retirement Community, and The Silver Slipper Casino.  Patron Sponsor’s are Honaker Funeral Home, and The St. Tammany News.  Family Sponsors’ are, Silva, Gurtner and Abney, LLC, and Thomas and Farr Agency, First NBC Bank, Crossgates Family Fitness…

Here is a list of the restaurants, chefs, bands and suppliers that have donated their time, food and products in past years, and have been asked to once again be with us for this year’s event.

All the pastries for Saturday will once again be donated by the Royal Sonesta Hotel, and on Sunday by A Family Affair Catering…Champagne and Red and White wines and will be provided by Republic National Distributing Company, and Budweiser Beer products by Champagne Beverage

Music will be provided by the Storyville Stompers, Bobby Ohler and the Harbor Band, and The Ronnie Kole Trio…

Auction items are hotel stays at the Hilton Washington (DC) Hotel; Marriott’s Grand Hotel and Resort, Point Clear , AL ; The Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown , NY ; the Hilton New York, and many New Orleans hotels are among the extensive auction items that also include Celebrity wine dinners, fashion accessories by local designers and one-of-a-kind jewelry. Also being auctioned are sports items and tickets, original art and lunches or dinners at more than 30 local restaurants and hotels...

On the live auction we’ll auction two round trip tickets on Air Tran,  Saints, Hornets, and Sugar Bowl items, fine trips to Napa, Vegas, Paris, London, Banff/Lake Louise Canada, plus many other items including a spectacular evening hosted by Gardner and Ronnie Kole at their home, Chateau Kole…It’ll include Chef John Besh preparing a Gourmet Dinner for eight featuring fine French wines from the Kole’s wine cellar, and music by Bobby Ohler, plus an after dinner concert by Ronnie Kole. …
